Nigeria democracy day is a national holiday that commemorates the restoration of democracy in Nigeria on June 12, 1993. On this day, Nigerians celebrate the annulment of the presidential election that was widely regarded as the freest and fairest in the country’s history. The election was won by Chief Moshood Abiola, who was later arrested and died in detention. Nigeria democracy day is a symbol of the struggle for democratic governance and human rights in Nigeria.

Perhaps, Andy Akpotive didn’t find the day worthy enough while speaking to our host C.S Nwilliams (Radio Apprentice) during a democracy day commentary. Andy insisted that due process has been put on hold and the people’s freedom of need and decision has been taken away from them by a government that thinks it knows better than the people that elected her to serve. Recall that on the first day of inauguration, President Bola Tinubu announced an end to fuel subsidy, which seems to be the only commodity subsidized for Nigerians.
